CBS Radio Vs. Howard Stern Lawsuit

Updated: 05/24/2006 - As of 5/24/06, there are reports that this case has been settled but not signed. It's expected that it will be signed within a day or so and this suit will be closed. We may never know the full details of the settlement though... Below you'll find my original write-up and links to news stories about the case.

Earlier this year CBS Radio filed a lawsuit against Howard Stern and his agent Don Buchwald. Howard was very vocal about what was going on with the suit in the beginning but he seems to have quieted down since CBS' lawyers sent him a letter asking him to stop talking about the suit on the air. Well, there are some Stern fans out there who are going to keep us up to date on what's going on with the case. One of them, John, has been doing some research and found out some information about the Judge who will be handling the case... Judge Ira Gammerman, age 78!

Gammerman apparently handles cases for many celebrities and it appears that the colorful courtroom behavior of Judge Gammerman may make for a very interesting case... which may or may not be a good thing for Howard. You can read this 2004 NY Times article to find out a little more about Gammerman.

The case is scheduled to go to court in May 2007, quite a while for Howard to be shelling out money to his lawyers.

To give you an idea of who Howard will be dealing with in this case, here are some of the Attorney's involved in the case... Howard's Lawyer Peter Parcher (and another profile here). And of course here's the other side... CBS' law firm, Arnold & Porter's four attorneys...

Since Howard may not be talking much about this case on the air anymore, I'll try to bring you guys some updates as John relays them to me.
